Attention Greenville County Residents:

Urgent Action Needed on Tax Increases and Transfer Station Proposal

The Greater Greenville Sewer District (GGSC) is proposing a significant tax increase and the construction of a new transfer station near established neighborhoods, with construction plans that were initially presented as office facilities. The district is also requesting approval for a $34 million bond to fund this project, which will add to the already mounting debt, potentially escalating the district’s financial losses in the coming years.

This proposal includes a 24% increase in taxes for residents and businesses in the district, along with significant costs that may affect both residential and commercial property owners. The tax hikes, planned construction, and lack of transparency around the full financial impacts are concerns that need to be addressed.

We encourage all local residents to contact their elected officials immediately to express their concerns regarding these developments. The first reading of this proposal will take place on Election Day, November 5th, and the second reading and public hearing will follow on November 19th. Your voice matters in ensuring that the interests of the community are represented.

Take action now—reach out to your local officials, ask the tough questions, and make your concerns known before this proposal moves forward.

Let’s ensure that Greater Greenville is accountable to the people it serves.
